Dear customers,

on May 19, 2012 we have the Waitaki College at the Loan & Merc, which we are very happy about and looking forward to host them for a wonderful formal!

Please take notice, that the entire restaurant and bar will be closed from 4pm for this school formal and that we cannot take any bookings for this evening.

On Sunday, we will be back to normal business and Farmers’ Market.

The WINTER Farmers’ Market arrived in our function room. The first two markets were bustling and exciting and every Sunday, we are happy to open our old gates for all those beautiful and diversified stalls of the Farmers’ Market!

By the way: We are also present at the Farmers’ Market with The Loan & Merc Market Café – delicious hot drink and freshly baked cakes waiting for you. And don’t miss Sue, the Cheese-Roll Lady. Next to her super cheese rolls, she also sells The Loan & Merc homemade chutneys and relishes and freshly smoked salmon…yummy!

Our Restaurant and Bar operates at the normal hours during the Farmers’ Market. You are welcome for hearty breakfast and rustic lunch! See you soon…

The Loan & Mercantile – Tavern and Eating House and also known as “Fleurs other place” – is the perfect place to enjoy hearty breakfasts, rustic delicious meals, beautiful desserts or just a tasty snack in a unique historic atmosphere!

You find us in the grand old stone warehouse at the end of Oamaru’s Victorian Precinct – just next to the harbour and the ocean. The building itself was built in 1882 for the NZ Loan & Mercantile Agency Company to store wool and grain. The stone walls, great exposed beams, massive columns, well-worn floorboards and the old elevators are still in place and along with other machinery it is possible to visualize what it was like 100 years ago. So come along, step back in history and let us make your dining experience one to savour and remember.

We are open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am till late and Sundays from 9am to 4pm. Mondays we are closed but happy to make arrangements for groups, special occasions and public holidays.

And if you have an event or function coming up, with a spacious back room, the cosy restaurant & bar area or The Loan & Mercantile Catering Service we can match all your needs.
